A Side Table Made for the Chair

The table is proportioned specifically for use beside the Adirondack chair, with the top sitting slightly below the chair arm so drinks, books or serving plates stay within easy reach without getting in the way.

The table is proportioned to match the scale of the chair, so the two pieces look balanced when used together while still allowing the table to be moved wherever it is needed.

Materials and Construction

• Made entirely from clear, knot-free old-growth Western Red Cedar
  
• All lumber is milled quarter-sawn in-house
  
• Full one-inch rough-sawn boards are planed and sanded to their finished thickness
  
• Tabletop edges are rounded for a smooth finished profile
  
• 305 and 316 stainless-steel fasteners are used throughout
  
• Both pieces are shaped, sanded and prepared by me in small batches

Western Red Cedar naturally varies in colour. I select lighter and darker boards so the chair and table show the natural contrast and character of the wood while still looking like a matched set.

Finish and Care

The chair and table shown in the product photographs have been stained with SICO ProLuxe Primary Coat RE1 in the Natural tint. This finish brings out the colour and grain of the cedar without covering it.

The set arrives unstained so you can apply the exterior finish you prefer. I recommend finishing both pieces before assembly to help protect the cedar and slow the natural weathering process.

Assembly

The chair kit contains 34 cedar parts, while the side-table kit contains 16. Parts are predrilled where applicable, countersunk where needed and finish-sanded before packing.

The package includes:

• Full-colour instructions for both pieces
  
• Stainless-steel screws and carriage bolts
  
• A chair seat-slat spacing tool
  
• A driver bit

You will need:

• An electric drill
  
• A tape measure
  
• An 11 mm or 7/16-inch wrench

Chair assembly generally takes between 1½ and 2 hours. The side table normally takes approximately 40 minutes.

Made in Canada

I make both the chair and matching side table in British Columbia, Canada, from clear, knot-free old-growth Western Red Cedar. I mill all of the lumber quarter-sawn in-house, then build and sand both pieces myself before packing them together for shipment across Canada and internationally.

Shipping

Orders ship within three business days. I ship throughout Canada and to customers in the United States, Europe and other international destinations. Shipping costs are based on the destination, parcel size and weight, and the rate for your location will appear after you enter your address in the cart or during checkout.

The chair and side table ship together in one double-walled cardboard box. The packaging is plastic-free. I use small satchels of aromatic cedar chips as packing material, with recyclable cardboard and paper for the remaining packaging.

I ship through the postal system, so please provide an address where your local postal carrier can deliver the parcel safely.
