Cedar Wood Adirondack Side Table

Designed as a practical table for outdoor seating, this cedar side table gives you useful surface space without taking up more room than necessary. I build each one in my Canadian workshop from clear, knot-free old-growth Western Red Cedar, using lumber I mill quarter-sawn in-house.

Sized to Sit Beside the Chair

The table is proportioned to sit comfortably beside an Adirondack chair, with the top positioned slightly below the chair arm so everyday items stay within easy reach without getting in the way.

The table can be placed on either side of the chair, moved between seats, or used on its own wherever a small outdoor table is useful.

Construction Details

The tabletop is built from individual cedar slats supported by the table frame. The outer edges of the top are rounded over, and all surfaces are finish-sanded before packing.

The pieces are pre-drilled and countersunk where required to make assembly straightforward. The hardware includes 305 stainless-steel screws, along with the required driver bit for assembly.

Finish and Care

The side table ships unstained, so you can leave the cedar natural or apply the finish of your choice. Left outdoors without a finish, Western Red Cedar will gradually weather to a silver-grey colour, and some surface checking can occur as the wood responds to changes in moisture and temperature.

For customers who want to retain the cedar’s natural colour, I recommend Sico ProLuxe Primary Coat RE1 in the Natural tint. This is the finish used in the product photos after testing different options on the cedar I mill.

Assembly

The side table ships as an unassembled kit with full-colour instructions and all required hardware. The table is made up of 16 pieces, and assembly requires an electric drill.
